Hans Lovejoy is a bassist, vocalist and bandleader with more than 30 years of professional performance experience. Trained at the Victoria College of the Arts in Melbourne, he has performed across jazz, blues, rock, R&B and latin styles — from a residency at Melbourne's Bennett's Lane to the stages of Bluesfest Byron Bay, Woodford Folk Festival and Blues on Broadbeach.
Currently leading a jazz quartet and trio, and playing in the original rock/blues/psychedelic outfit Hashimoto's Cactus, Hans brings both versatility and deep musicianship to every engagement. He has also taught at the Lismore Conservatorium of Music.
Off the stage, Hans was editor of the independent Echo newspaper in Byron Shire (2011–2026) — one of Australia's few and longest-running independent regional papers.
